REVIEW
Despite being regularly referred to as a "trip hop" group, Easy Life has been steadily drifting away from this label and would be more accurately described as straddling the line between the indie pop of Rex Orange County and the lofi pop rap of newer artists such as Powfu and Austenyo, and therein lies the primary problem I have with their music. Yes, Easy Life has some pretty relatable and strong lyrics, but it's so often compromised by how forgettable and simplistic the beats are...

And that's exactly why I enjoy this new mixtape so much. They've significantly expanded the range of the sound by incorporating more pianos and synths than before, as well as melancholic but summery horns, all of which massively aids in fleshing out the instrumentals and providing the much needed extra substance for this mixtape to reach escape velocity and leave the barren wastes of lofi behind them. Even the basslines on this thing are more developed than before, even if they still lack in groove that would allow this to be a comfortably great project.

Overall, this is a fun listen, but it's at its best when it makes you think too as they deliver some of their best narratives to date and transcend the somewhat generic emo lyrics that have burdened previous releases, as well as building upon their signature sound in exclusively positive ways. Check this out, you may well enjoy it!
