REVIEW
Winona Oak shows promise operating in a similarly borderless style of pop to Gabrielle Aplin, but on her debut EP it feels as though she should be exploring her horizons more than she is. The opening track suffers from a generic trap beat that feels forced for commercial purposes, and the synth experimentation at the end of "Control" is a highlight but should be integrated throughout the track rather than tacked on the end inconsequentially as it is.

The obvious standout comes in the form of "Lonely Hearts Club", a well written and phenomenal slice of melodramatic pop music that best demonstrates Winona's vocal and lyrical talents in a simple but enthralling way. Perhaps it could be improved should it feature some of the other song's experimental elements, but due to the unfortunate confinement of these elements to mere moments I fear it wouldn't actually have added anything to the track.

Overall though, this is a good starting point and I'm excited to see how Winona refines and defines her sound.
