Django Django - Swimming At Night (Single Review)

This January Django Django released their fun third album with the excellent singles "In Your Beat" and "Tic Tac Toe" highlighting their fun poppy side. That didn't make them any less weird and quirky whereas on this new song it is maybe one of their poppiest yet. Yes, it has strange elements like the vocal sample in the beat and the brilliant synthesizers.

The lyrics are quite catchy and the vocal rhythm is excellent, it just lacks some of the usually very out-there phrases.

The intro and build to this song is fantastic as is the production throughout. My favourite part has to be the first verse, it just flows so spectacularly.

It's perhaps not as musically complex as some if their compositions but it's definitely still a fun listen that I overall enjoy.

Atmosphere: 3/5
Catchiness: 4/5
Instrumentation: 3/5
Lyrics: 3/5
Production: 4/5

Overall I'd rate this a light 8 out of 10, not Django Django's best work but definitely essential for any fans of the band or art rock or experimental pop to check out.
